The Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for the enterprise-wide deployment of information technologies in service of teaching, research, and administration for The Ohio State University. Its role is to serve as a catalyst for innovatively leveraging technology to advance and support the mission and goals of the university. The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is committed to leadership, reliable access and support for superior information technologies and services; to enhance student learning, faculty teaching, research and administrtive services. As OIT director, Mike Veres leads the daily operations, development, delivery, and support of all OIT services, which includes application development and support, applied technology services, telecommunications and networking, operations, and partnership management. Major milestones under his leadership include the implementation of administrative systems for Human Resources, Financials and Grants; implementation of the current e-mail system with features for central virus and spam filtering; the wireless network; the data warehouse; and the regularly scheduled upgrades of technology classrooms and related services. Most recently, Mike Veres served as Interim Chief Information Officer, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the central technology division. In July 2000, he was also appointed interim CIO and served in that capacity until the permanent CIO was selected later that year. He resumed his position as Deputy CIO and held the concurrent appointment of director of the Office of Information Technology, the new organization created when the former University Technology Services and the Administrative Resource Management System were merged and restructured. | ||
