OCIO Service Catalog
BuckeyePass (2-Factor Authentication)
Overview
OCIO offers BuckeyePass, that provides 2-factor authentication. Two-factor authentication (or strong authentication) is a viable choice when a greater level of security for accessing information is needed.
In general, 2-factor authentication is used when a password alone may not be enough to protect your sensitive information or mission critical applications.
Two-factor authentication operates based on two primary proofs:
- Something you know, like a password or PIN
- Something you possess, like an ATM card
Typical uses of 2 -factor authentication include: sensitive or restricted data on a shared computer or server; or a server that is connected to the internet.
