OCIO Service Catalog — FAQs

+ What is the OCIO Service Catalog?

The OCIO Service Catalog (also called a Business Service Catalog) represents the list of all operational services that can be requested through the Office of the CIO, based on affiliation with the university. The Service Catalog will change over time as new services are launched and legacy services meet their end of life.

+ What information will I find in the OCIO Service Catalog?

The OCIO Service Catalog was created to provide basic information about the services offered, including service description, what’s included, options, pricing, eligibility, how to order, and any special considerations or requirements. To share your experience using our service catalog, visit: Share Your Feedback.

+ What if I have additional questions about a service?

The “How to Order” section of each service description provides contact information should you have additional questions about a service that interests you.

+ I don’t see Carmen, OSUWireless, or clickers. Are these services still offered?

Yes! As part of the OCIO’s initiative to utilize IT Service Management best practices, the names of services listed in our Service Catalog are now based on what the service does or provides to our customers. We’ve removed technical language, system and vendor names and acronyms from our service names. We’re calling our services what they do! You can still locate service information by typing in a keyword (like Carmen, OSUWireless, or clickers) into the Service Catalog Keyword Search.

+ Why does the service catalog route me out to different web site urls?

The Office of the CIO is comprised of several different areas. Some of our areas may specialize in certain services and subsequently maintain the supporting documentation or information about those services on their area web sites. As the OCIO continues its branding initiative, the need to route to area-specific web sites will lessen over time. Rest assured that the service information provided in the service catalog is the authoritative source and most up-to-date information about OCIO services.

+ I’m looking for a price list. Where would I find it?

The price list for services displayed in the Service Catalog is located here: OCIO Service Price List. It can also be accessed by clicking on the “OCIO Service Price List” link under “Other Resources”.

+ Are there other ways to view the list of services?

Our “Catalog View” is the default view of OCIO services. Optionally, you can view the list of services alphabetically or by your affiliation with the university. The ‘View By’ options are located at the top of the OCIO Service Catalog home page.

+ Can I print the Service Catalog?

If you see a “Print” option at the top of a Service Catalog page, the page can be printed.

+ How will the OCIO alert me when new services have been added to the service catalog?

The OCIO utilizes many different communications to alert customers about new services. One method is through the “What’s New” section of the service catalog. Be sure to check the “What’s New” section periodically for new services or new service options now available.

+ How will the OCIO alert me when a service has been retired or is no longer available?

The OCIO utilizes different communication methods to alert customers about the retirement or end of life of its services. One method is through the “Discontinued Services” section of the service catalog. This section lists the service that will be discontinued and the planned discontinuation date.
