Governance Structure

Executive Sponsor Committee
This committee is responsible for oversight and major policy decisions for the planning project. The committee is comprised of the CIO and selected Deans and Vice Presidents and is expected to meet for 2-3 hours for updates throughout the project.

Stakeholder Advisory Committee
This committee provides subject matter expertise for the planning process and engages university stakeholders representing OSU’s major constituencies of students, faculty and staff in the planning process. Bi-weekly team meetings are planned for the committee to provide operational level review and feedback on findings and deliverables.

Core Project Team
This Team includes the Functional Team leads, OHR support and project office support and is responsible for the daily work of the project.

Current State Team
The Current State team is responsible for leading the analysis of OSU’s current technology performance and the environment in which it operates. Using SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) techniques, the IT environment will be assessed to determine its effectiveness, competitive position, opportunities for improvement and threats to service delivery in the current environment. Data for this analysis will be gathered through inventories, surveys, questionnaires and interviews.

Vision State Team
The Vision State Team is responsible for leading a process to develop a consensus around a vision for information technology at the university. The process will focus on describing how technology will help OSU meet its teaching, research and service strategies and goals. Based on the Academic Plan and in conjunction with discussions with key OSU leaders the team will strive to clearly identify the role that is envisioned for technology in fulfilling the academic mission and vision of the university. The Team is also responsible for sponsoring one or a series of “Technology Days” to bring industry leaders to campus to offer their insights into current and future technologies with regard to major research universities.

Gap Analysis and Strategic Initiatives Team
The Gap and Strategic Initiatives Team is responsible for guiding the process to describe the issues that interfere with our ability to attain our future state, to develop a list of strategic initiatives that will enable us to attain our future state and to assign a priority and implementation plan to each of the initiatives. The team will also lead the effort to develop measurements to indicate success in the implementation of each of the initiatives.

Writing Team
The Writing Team is responsible to the drafting of the Strategic Plan, dissemination for review and the incorporation of comments and suggestions.
