February 11, 2002 To: Technology Stakeholder Advisory Committee From: Ilee Rhimes, Chief Information Officer Subject: OSU PlanIT - Information Technology Strategic Plan The Office of the Chief Information Officer is proactively seeking to better understand and prioritize its customers' IT needs and therefore is seeking to develop a project based "roadmap" to guide the institution towards achieving its technology vision. This ambitious 25-week undertaking will culminate in a written technology plan to be completed by the end of July. This memo expands on the project description and includes a list of the Team PlanIT Project members. The project's primary goal is to create a unified vision for information technology at OSU and develop strategic initiatives that will help achieve the vision of the university's Academic Plan. Ultimately, this will translate into better information technology service and support for students, faculty, administrators and staff across the institution. A team of experienced OSU staff will be leading this effort to develop doable strategic initiatives that implement the information technology (IT) plan. The plan will include guidelines for the continuing investment in and implementation of IT at OSU. The Office the Chief Information Officer will provide executive sponsorship and oversight during the project. The key objectives of this project are:
