OSU Internet Username

All Ohio State University faculty and staff receive an OSU Internet username upon employment for accessing the universityÕs central e-mail services and secure web servers and for submitting grades and conducting other university business. This unique identifier takes the form of lastname.#, for example, brutus.2, and when you add @osu.edu (e.g., brutus.2@osu.edu), it becomes your unique campus e-mail address. If you use a departmental e-mail system, you still need your OSU Internet username for web-based services offered by Traffic and Parking, Human Resources, and other campus units.

To activate your OSU Internet username, click on ÒOSU Internet usernameÓ on the OSU Account Management page at acctmgt.service.ohio-state.edu.

Name Change

If you change your last name, immediately after notifying the other appropriate university offices, please inform OIT to ensure continuation of your Ohio State Internet services. Send e-mail to 8help@osu.edu or call 688-HELP.

E-mail

OIT maintains central campus e-mail services, identified by the @osu.edu standard form of e-mail address. Central e-mail services enable you to access your mail by downloading it to your computer using POP software such as Outlook or Eudora, by viewing and managing it online using a web browser (go to OSU Webmail at webmail.osu.edu) or by having your osu.edu mail forwarded to the e-mail address and Internet service provider (ISP) you prefer to use.

To have your mail forwarded to your preferred ISP or departmental system, click on Òosu.edu E-mailÓ on the OSU Account Management page at acctmgt.service.ohio-state.edu and then click on ÒChange Delivery.Ó

Password

All OSU faculty, staff, and students have a responsibility to keep their computing as secure as possible. Make it a practice to change all your passwords regularly using the tips described at buckeyesecure.osu.edu/password.html. To change the password associated with your OSU Internet username, click on ÒOSU Internet usernameÓ on the OSU Account Management page at acctmgt.service.ohio-state.edu and then click on ÒChange Password.Ó

If you forget the password for your OSU Internet username, have it reset by calling 688-HELP or taking your university ID to OIT Customer Services, 512 Baker Systems Engineering.
