Data Warehouse

The Data Warehouse is an evolving set of university data used for reporting, planning, and decision making. The data may contain information extracted from the Operational Data Store, campus operational systems, and external data sources. Access the Data Warehouse through the eReports web portal and get direct access through desktop tools like Hyperion, Microsoft Access, and FileMaker Pro. For more information on how to access the Data Warehouse or to inquire about specific data, send e-mail to 8help@osu.edu or call 688-HELP.

Enterprise (Mainframe) Services

The enterprise (mainframe) server provides access to administrative services related to grades management, financial aid, and university development. Staff needing access must set up a system ID by sending a request to access@osu.edu.

Operational Data Store (ODS)

OITÕs ODS is a set of relational databases updated nightly with data from campus administrative systems relating to students, personnel, financial aid, admissions, and the Billing and Accounts Receivable System (BARS). You can query the ODS for operational data using desktop tools such as Microsoft Access and FileMaker Pro. University Administrative Human Resources and Financial Systems

The universityÕs administrative systems are integrated applications used to operate and track activities in human resources, fiscal management, procurement, and sponsored project/ research administration. To get access, send an e-mail request to access@osu.edu or call Data Security at 247-6168.

Telephone, Video, and Data Services

OIT Telecommunications and Networking offers the following business and personal use services, several personal use services, and free consultation and training. For a complete listing, go to units.osu.edu, send e-mail to units@osu.edu, call 688-HELP or 800-678-6003 (toll free).

  1. Telephone services include business telephones and features, long distance, calling cards, voice mail, audiotext, contact center solutions, cellular phones, pagers, pay phones, 800 service, directory assistance, and a multiparty audio conference bridge.
  2. Video services include cable television, video conferencing and bridging, satellite feeds, and downlinks.
  3. Data services include OSUNet, Internet, and Internet2 access, OSU Wireless Network (Wi-Fi) access, a remote dialup ISP (OSUWeb.net), local area networks, and special circuits.
  4. Business support services include consultation and training, system design, building wiring design and installation, campus directory assistance, 292-OHIO (6446), and several advertising opportunities.
  5. Online services include requesting repairs, ordering services, and managing accounts.
  6. Personal use services for all faculty and staff include several long distance options, OSU Wireless-Cellular, and OSUWeb.net dialup.
