We congratulate Merry Merryfield, professor in the College of Education, who was selected recently as a winner of the prestigious 2004 National Technology Leadership Initiative Fellow Award, based on her research on cross-cultural learning online.

Dr. Merryfield is a professor of Social Studies and Global Education for OSU's School of Teaching and Learning. More information on her research is available on her College of Education home page.

"Who would ever guess I would win a technology award?" the educator recently said. "I have to really thank the teachers in my online courses and my wonderful grad students who have served as cultural and resource consultants in these courses."

The recognition comes from the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE), an international association of individuals and affiliated organizations of teacher educators that promotes the use of information technology in teacher education and faculty/staff development. The purpose of the NTLI Fellowship is to encourage further dialog among professional associations regarding appropriate technology use in teacher education.

As one of four recipients of the NTLI Fellowship award, Dr. Merryfield has been invited to present her paper at SITE's 2004 annual conference in Atlanta, Georgia in March.
