What Have We Been Doing Lately? Information Technology is what the Chief Information Officer's activities are all about. This past year, the CIO's Office and its affiliated departments, OIT (with UNITS) and TELR, formulated three goals. Not surprisingly, each goal begins with the word "technology." Distilled to their essence, our goals are to provide technology leadership, technology services, and technology infrastructure. Specifically, the goals encompass a variety of endeavors such as fostering collaboration on standards, guidelines, best practices and policies; providing a user-friendly, reliable technology environment including an enabling infrastructure with seamless and secure access; maintaining a reputation for excellence in the delivery of effective and dependable support services; and establishing and maintaining integrated information systems including a data warehouse. Our offices work daily to meet these goals while striving to improve services, maintain excellence, operate more efficiently, and more effectively support the goals of the academic plan. The accompanying list, "Office of the CIO Highlights," illustrates how we've been doing. As you can see, our path intersects with many others throughout the university's Columbus and regional campuses. Please be assured that we take seriously our responsibility to provide and sustain a productive technology environment for the campus community.
