Posted: February 21, 2008
Office 2008 for Mac is now available for university-owned equipment through the Microsoft Campus Agreement license. It offers a streamlined interface, advanced design tools, and greater compatibility with the Windows-based 2007 Microsoft Office suite.
The licensing and installation DVD media for the Personal Use Program (faculty, staff and students) and the faculty/staff work-at-home media will not be available until early summer, according to UniPrint, distributors of the software at Ohio State.
Office 2008 for Mac includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Entourage, Microsoft Server, Exchange Support, and Automator Actions for Workflows in Microsoft Office. System requirements include Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later, Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (500 MHz or faster) processor, and a DVD drive or connection to a local area network (if installing over a network). Details are available at www.microsoft.com/mac/products/Office2008.
Departments do not have to pay additional license fees for individual installations of the Microsoft Campus Agreement software on university-owned equipment. Details regarding the Campus Agreement are at oit.osu.edu/site_license/mslicense. Click a page tab for specific information about the agreement.
The software media for both the Campus Agreement and Personal Use Program are available only at the UniPrint at Tuttle Park Place, 2055 Millikin Way, 292-2000.
