To kick-off the 2008-09 academic year and welcome new and returning students, the Office of Information Technology is introducing its new IT Service Desk to the campus community on September 24-25.

The IT Service Desk, located at 025 Central Classroom Building, handles questions, problem reports, service requests, and inquiries from faculty, staff, and students regarding computer hardware and software, Internet connectivity, and related topics. The IT Service Desk also supports OIT Telecommunications and Networking telephone, cellular, and central campus cable TV support.

During this grand opening event, "Come on down to the BuckeyeBar," complimentary snacks and beverages will be available, and students can enter to win a Nintendo Wii and other prizes. In addition, students can take an online quiz at it.osu.edu/itiq through September 30 to win one of two $150 gift cards from Barnes & Noble or an iPod package from Wired Out, The Tech Store @ OSU.

"We are thrilled with our new location," says Todd Wulfhorst, OIT service manager. "Being located in the Central Classroom Building near the OSU Bookstore, Wired Out, and Oxley's, makes it very convenient."

The IT Service Desk provides walk-in customer service support for site licensed software (Microsoft products sold at UniPrint), e-mail & wireless accounts, identity maintenance, data recovery, Internet connectivity walk-in assistance, OSU Wireless (cellular & data), bill payments (phone, cable TV, cellular), and statistical consultation. The OSU BuckeyeBar offers one-on-one technology consultation and problem-solving. Knowledgeable staff can help if you need to determine what hardware or software to buy, where to get an Internet connection, how to optimize OSU IT resources, and any other technology questions.

The IT Service Desk is located at 025 Central Classroom Building, 2009 Millikin Road. Up-to-date hours of operation are available at 8help.osu.edu/1691.html. For questions regarding the IT Service Desk, send e-mail to 8help@osu.edu or call 614-688-HELP (4357).
