Dear OSU Students, Faculty and Staff:

I want to take this opportunity to give you an update on what the Office of the CIO is doing to bring the new webmail/e-mail system online. We understand frustrations with the service lately and, to rectify the situation, everyone using an @osu.edu e-mail account will be migrated to a new system by the end of March.

The new system is ready for broad deployment, and the first group of users has already been migrated. We will start migrating all users in large batches next week. Since many of the issues with the current system are capacity-related, starting next week, as we move more and more accounts to the new system, your webmail and e-mail experience should continuously improve.

Historically, we have seen that the capacity problems have tended to occur during peak webmail/e-mail usage times, generally between 10-11:30 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. For the next week or so, if you access your e-mail outside of these peak times, you should experience minimal mail disruptions.

For additional information about the new webmail/e-mail system and the status of the migration process and your individual migration situation, go to 8help.osu.edu/migration. Furthermore, please do not hesitate to contact me with your concerns and questions at cio@osu.edu.

Sincerely,
Mike Veres
Interim CIO
