2007 Achievements

Staff Education and Training Initiative
Establish an IT staff education, training and career development program.


Since 2004

Established the Professional Development Grants program; provided training on administrative systems; continued offering computing short courses; continued the RockIT leader and management training for CIO staff and sent CIO staff to the Leading Edge Leadership Training program; sent university staff to the Desire2Learn user conference; hosted the Annual OHECC conference; refocused OITÕs Applied Technology Services to offer more comprehensive training to staff and the university community.

Since 2007

  • Trained approximately 2,000 staff and faculty on the universityÕs PeopleSoft/Oracle administrative systems. Attendees rated their satisfaction with General Ledger, Procurement, and Reporting classes at 3.5 or higher (on a 4 point scale). Overall satisfaction for Human Resources courses was 3.4.

  • Conducted OIT computing short courses for approximately 300 members of the university community, with more than half of survey respondents rating them excellent or above average.

  • Brought in SANS Institute to conduct a class on secure web application development.
