| E-mail and Phishing Control Panel Discussion | OSU faces increasing negative public exposure and image impacts from SPAM and phishing attacks. Blacklisting OSU from peer educational institutions, Internet Service Providers, and industry web sites damages the university reputation. Addressing the SPAM and phishing attacks requires tactical and strategic focus areas. This panel will focus on what the OSU community is currently doing to prevent phishing attacks and its action plan for preventing future attacks from the operational, security, local IT support and user perspectives. Participants will provide input into the action plan and feedback on how to address this problem. | |
| The Role of Enterprise Architecture | Enterprise Architecture (EA) continues to evolve and be adopted within organizations. The role of EA at OSU is new. Developing an EA program requires collecting input from key stakeholders. The breakout session focuses upon collecting feedback in establishing the definition, value, scope, stakeholders, role, responsibilities, and deliverables, and a real world example using the EA recommendation approach. EA recommendations leverage an objective approach by describing the issue or problem, alternatives, recommendation, justification, assumptions, motivation, and implications. Details of establishing an EA Active Directory recommendation will involve subsequent meetings and discussions. Participants can expect to gain a better understanding of the EA role and the approach to establishing EA recommendations. The breakout session is planned to be interactive and solicit open and honest feedback. | |
| Unified Communications: End-user Input on Central E-mail and Calendaring Project | One of two critical programs initiated by the Office of the CIO this year is Unified Communications, which includes a project to replace the central e-mail and calendaring services. This session will provide a brief overview of the central e-mail and calendar replacement project and use a World Cafˇ setting to gather input about the end-user experience and key features and functions desired in the new service. | |
| Communications and Expectations During Major Service Interruptions | This session will clarify expectations on service availability when major outages occur. We will discuss common misconceptions about the disaster recovery process; clarify definitions of high availability, service level agreements, and recovery time objectives; and provide awareness of related initiatives. We will discuss ways to improve two-way communications during times of emergencies and outages. We will also seek feedback on how can we set clear expectations with the broader community of service availability during major interruptions and improve communications during outages. |
